We provide advice to the many questions asked by business owners. We will research your company and advise you of any changes that should be made in order to conform with the new Equality Act 2010.

The Equality Act 2010 states that all companies, regardless of size, must make all reasonable adjustments to ensure that Disabled people (including Deaf and Hard of Hearing people) have full access to their premises and the goods they provide. The employment rights and first rights of access came into force on 2 December 1996; further rights of access came into force on 1 October 1999; and the final rights of access came into force in October 2004. This final amendment to the act was much more comprehensive than previous versions. It insists that companies now make all reasonable permanent physical and communicative adjustments to their buildings, the services they provide and staff attitudes. Listed buildings and companies with less than 15 employees are no longer exempt.

It may surprise you to learn that the term "Disability" actually covers a very wide range of illnesses and impairments including asthma, tuberculosis, AIDS, cancer, angina, diabetes, hypertension, stuttering, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, dyslexia, blindness or vision impairment, deafness or hearing impairment, and paralysis. Under the rules of the Disability Discrimination Act, Disability is defined as "a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, a record of such impairment, or a perception of such impairment."

Don't let your company be just another company that caters for the masses. We will not only advise your company on meeting the government's increasing legal requirements, but also help in proving your company's commitment to providing for all people... not just some of them!

Training

We provide to the public, private and third sectors information, advice and training on all aspects of disability to enable our clients to better tailor their services to the needs of the disabled community. We have worked with major charities, commercial care services, HM Prison Services and East Coast Rail to name but a few. Our disability awareness training courses are innovative, interesting and thought provoking. We encourage participation and discussion.
